holy smokes!

damn snap! it's been awhile since i have even looked at my blog, let alone posted on it! (over a year, but who's counting?) time has flown by and my little babies are rapidly turning into little adults! since the last time i posted, Shorty Girl is now in kinder and The Boy is in first grade, keeping his teacher on her toes. ;) they have the most amazing personalities and such wonderful qualities as human beings. they are coming into themselves, and i am so proud to be able to call them mine. we just celebrated Shorty Girl's 6th birthday. 6?!?!?!?! i can't believe it. it was a princess theme and it was a blast! we did have some nose bleeds, broken crowns and a few meltdowns, but it's a party, right? ;)

i love that pic of her. :)

hopefully i will be more consistent and actually blog more often! only time will tell....

Memorial 2010

we had a fun day! uncle todd came down to visit and the kids took full advantage of that! they always have fun when uncle todd comes down!

my dad bbq-ed corn, burgers, and hot dogs. they were yumm-o!

we went swimming earlier that day, but the kids can never get enough water play time! they were watering the grass and washing their cars.

unfortunately, we did have one accident.......but there were no injuries.

Legacy of an Adopted Child

Once there were two women, neither knew the other
One you do not remember, the other you call mother.

One gave you a nationality, the other gave you a name
One gave you the seed of talent, the other gave you an aim.

Two very different lives shaped yours into one
One became your guiding star, the other was your sun.

One gave you emotions, and one calmed your fears
One saw your first sweet smile, the other dried your tears.

The first gave you life, the second taught you to live it.
The first gave you a need for love, the second was there to give it.

One gave you up—it was all that she could do,
The other prayed for a child—God led her straight to you.

And now you ask me through your tears,
The age-old question of all the years,
Heredity or Environment, which are you a product of?
Neither darling, neither ... just two different kinds of Love

I always think of my kids' biological mothers today. i am eternally greatful for them, because without them i would not be a mother today. i also can't help but wonder.....are they thinking of them too? do they wonder what their children have turned out like? do they want to meet them someday?

all i really know is that i am the luckiest mother in the world to have my precious babies. i KNOW that they were made for ME - and i wouldn't have it any other way. ;-)

Summer is almost here!!

we have officially started our summer activities....popscicles and swimming!! the kids were so excited to eat the pops....it makes my heart melt at the simple things that make them so happy. with all these "new-fangled contraptions" for kids, i LOVE to see them so happy with things like popscicles and swimming!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE their beautiful eyes!!!!!!

this technically is our second swim of the year, but i forgot the camera for the first one! it is warm outside, but DAMN!! that water was freakin' COLD!!!!

i think it's gonna be a good summer.........;-)

Pre K Float Parade

The boy's class had a fiesta float parade on friday. it was the cutest thing. all of the other grades (kinder - 4th grade) line the hallway and cheeer as the pre k kids parade through the halls with their floats. priceless.

the beginning stages..........

and the finished product! richard and the boy did it all. the boy told him where to put it, and richard glued it on. such creative guys!!! i was very proud of their work. some of the floats were very nice, but you could tell that the kids had nothing to do with it and the parents did it all. not here!! ;-)

and, finally.....i present the parade.

happy fiesta everyone!
